Applying for Credit Pre-Approval

What are joint applicants?

Joint applicants, also called co-applicants, are individuals who apply together for credit and are entitled to have equal use of the vehicle.

What is a co-signer?

A co-signer, according to federal and state law, is an individual who signs a contract agreeing to be responsible for the payment of a debt, but is not expected to have use of the vehicle. A co-signer is used most often in cases where the applicant has minimal or no credit history.

Do joint applicants or co-signers need to fill out separate applications?

No, you may use one credit application.

Once I complete a credit application online, where do I go to find out if I've been approved?

You can check your application status online.

Can I apply for credit online for a non-Acura vehicle?

No, applying for credit online applies to Acura vehicles only.

Leasing

Do I need to perform maintenance on a leased vehicle?

Yes. As part of your lease agreement, you are responsible for servicing your vehicle in accordance with the manufacturer's minimum recommendations and as requested by the manufacturer in connection with any recall campaign.

What are the insurance requirements* for a leased vehicle?

You must maintain insurance coverage for the duration of your lease. Please read your lease agreement carefully. Minimum coverage on a leased vehicle includes: Public liability insurance that either covers up to $100,000 for bodily injuries to any one person, $300,000 for bodily injuries for any one accident, and $50,000 for property damage, or has a combined single limit of $300,000 for bodily injuries and property damage for any one accident; and physical damage insurance covering loss or damage to the vehicle, with deductibles of no more than $1,000 for collision and upset loss and $1,000 for comprehensive fire and theft loss.

Honda Lease Trust should be listed as additional insured and loss payee.

*Note: Different insurance requirements are applicable in Florida and Hawaii. Please read your Lease Agreement carefully for required insurance coverage levels.

Where do I send my insurance information?

When leasing a new vehicle or changing insurance companies, please have your insurance agent provide appropriate evidence of insurance to Honda Lease Trust, naming it as Loss Payee and Additional Insured. This evidence should be mailed or faxed to:

I typically drive more than 15,000 miles per year. Does that mean I shouldn't
lease?

Not at all. Once your lease begins, you cannot change your mileage allowance. However, we have special lease programs that allow you to buy "up-front" mileage less expensively than you would pay at the conclusion of the lease. Plus, the cost of excess mileage is conveniently included in your monthly payment. If you do not use all the miles you purchase, no refund is made. Ask your Acura dealer for details.

I want to buy a vehicle service contract. Can I include the cost in my lease
payment?

Yes. Your Acura dealer can give you the details. In the meantime, be sure to check out our Acura Care® programs.

What happens if my vehicle is stolen or "totaled" in an accident?

In these cases, your lease may be terminated early. Please contact Client Services as soon as possible to notify us and discuss the next steps. But rest assured — all Acura leases include (Guaranteed Asset Protection) to protect you against unnecessary expenses.

If I lease, am I responsible for sales tax and property tax?

In some states, you pay sales tax that is based upon your monthly payments. Other states require you to pay tax on the full value of the vehicle. Property tax treatment varies from state to state as well. Ask your dealer for information about the tax regulations in your state.

Are leasing and balloon financing available for non-Acura vehicles?

Not through Acura Financial Services®.

What are Acura Loyalty Advantage benefits?

Acura Loyalty Advantage benefits reward loyal Acura Financial Services (AFS) lease clients by offering:

  • Momentum Miles: If you have driven fewer than your contracted lease miles, your unused lease miles (up to 15,000) will be rounded up to the nearest 1,000 and added to your next Acura Luxury Lease.

  • Mileage Forgiveness: If you have driven more than your contracted lease miles (up to 7,500), we will waive half of your excess mileage when you lease or finance through AFS. Plus, if you choose to lease another new Acura with us, we'll add an additional 1,000 miles to your base mileage amount.

Financing

What are the insurance requirements for a financing contract?

You must maintain physical damage, comprehensive, and collision insurance coverage for the duration of your contract, with American Honda Finance Corp. or AHFC named as the loss payee. Please read your financing agreement carefully and ask your dealer for details.

I want to buy a vehicle service contract. Can I include the cost in my auto financing?

Yes. Your Acura dealer can give you the details. In the meantime, be sure to check out our Acura Care® programs.

What vehicles are eligible for Acura Certified Pre-Owned financing?

Acura Financial Services® finances Acura vehicles that are up to five years old, have less than 80,000 miles, and are purchased from a dealer.

One-Pay Lease Programs

What are the benefits of the One-Pay Lease program?

The One-Pay Lease provides convenience, savings and protection. You make only one payment, one time, freeing you from monthly payments. Plus, with the One-Pay Lease you can exchange your current vehicle for a newer model, without the inconvenience and expense of disposing the older vehicle.

Does a One-Pay Lease offer have any financial advantages?

The One-Pay Lease carries a special rate below your qualifying rate. Lower out-of-pocket costs leave you with more capital to invest in other assets. There can also be significant tax savings. Contact your Acura dealer for more information.

Does a One-Pay Lease have the same benefits as an Acura Luxury Lease?

Yes. One-Pay Leases include Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) coverage at no extra charge and an Excess Wear and Use Waiver policy. The maximum wear and use benefit covers a single incident at a maximum of $500 per incident up to a total of $1,500.

Is the One-Pay Lease program available on other Acura Financial Services® Special Lease programs?

Yes. The One-Pay Lease program is available on Standard and Special Leases.

Will One-Pay Lease clients receive monthly statements?

One-Pay Lease clients will receive the first monthly statement indicating that there are no payments due. After that, statements are only sent if taxes or other fees, such as parking tickets, are assessed.

Can One-Pay Lease clients purchase more than 15,000 miles per year?

Yes, additional miles can be purchased.

What happens at the end of the One-Pay Lease?

Acura Financial Services® will send you an end-of-term packet that details your options 180 days before the lease maturity date. Some of your options include purchasing or returning your vehicle. Please call the Lease Maturity Center at 1-866-777-6495 as your lease ends for more information.

Acura Care® Vehicle Service Contracts

My new car is under factory warranty. Why should I buy a service contract?

The comprehensive coverage of an Acura Care® Vehicle Service Contract covers virtually every mechanical component of your vehicle, including drivetrain, electronics, chassis, cooling/heating, and genuine factory accessories.

When does coverage for service contracts begin?

Coverage for a new auto begins when the vehicle is originally put into service and at zero miles. Coverage for a pre-owned plan begins on the service contract purchase date and at the mileage on the odometer on that date.

Can I include the cost of an Acura Care® Vehicle Service Contract in my traditional financing or lease payment?

Yes. You may finance the cost of a service contract if you purchased it at the same time as a new or used automobile.

Can I finance the cost of an Acura Care® Vehicle Service Contract separately?

Yes. With our special interest-free payment plan, a monthly payment can be automatically debited from your checking account, MasterCard or Discover Card.

Is an Acura Care® service contract transferable if I sell my vehicle?

Yes. Coverage is transferable from the original contract holder to a new party, as part of the contract holder’s sale of the vehicle to a new party.

Account Management

Paper Statements

When will I receive my statement?

You should receive your statement approximately two weeks before each monthly due date.

Electronic Statements (eStatements)

What are eStatements?

eStatements are a convenient way to view your 12 most recent statements on-line.

Go Green, Go Paperless?

Enroll in eDelivery and you will receive an emailed eDelivery notification when your eStatement is available online.

If I’m enrolled in eDelivery, when will I receive my statement?

You will receive an email the same day your eStatement is available online. You will no longer receive a paper statement. eStatements are available up to three weeks prior to your monthly due date.

How do I enroll in eDelivery?

Simply log in to your account on our web site (If you don’t already have an account, click “Register Now” from the homepage). Click on “Account Overview” and then “Delivery Options” and select “E-statement (with email notification).”

Is there a charge for using eDelivery?

No, this convenient service is offered free of charge to Acura Financial Services customers.

Payment

When I make a payment, how soon will it be deducted from my bank account?

All transactions submitted after 5:00 PM Pacific Time or on a non-Business Day will not be posted until the next Business Day. Business Day as used means any day other than a Saturday or Sunday that is neither a legal holiday nor a day on which commercial banks are authorized or required by law, regulation or executive order to close in the city of New York.

Can I pay my bill online?

Can I make a payment on Acura Financial Services account through this web site? How?

We offer two convenient payment services, EasyPaySM and Pay Online, which are provided free of charge to Acura Financial Services customers. More information about both of these services is available in the Payment Options section.

What is the difference between EasyPay and Pay Online?

EasyPay is a simple, convenient way to ensure your regular monthly payment is on time every month. Once you have enrolled in EasyPay, your payment is automatically deducted from your bank account on the due date each month.

Pay Online is a fast and easy way to make a single, non-recurring payment toward your account. You can use Pay Online to make your regular monthly payment or any supplementary payments.

Is it safe to use EasyPay and Pay Online to make a payment on my Acura Financial Services account?

We use a secure socket layer (SSL) connection and state-of-the-art encryption software to ensure the safety of your financial data and personal information. Please read our Privacy Policy for more information.

Is there a charge for using Pay Online?

No, this convenient service is offered free of charge to Acura Financial Services customers.

If I make a payment using Pay Online, when will it be reflected in my transaction history?

Payments will generally appear in your online transaction history on the next business day unless your payment is submitted between Friday 5:01 PM PST and Monday 5:00 PM PST. In that case, it will appear in two business days.

How many payments per calendar day can I make on Pay Online?

One standard and one principal-only payment can be made in a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 pm PST and ending at 4:59 pm PST the next day.

Can I have monthly payments automatically deducted from my bank account?

Yes. Simply complete an EasyPaySM Authorization Agreement. You can enroll online or by mail. Learn more about EasyPay.

Is there a charge for using EasyPay?

No, this convenient service is offered free of charge to Acura Financial Services customers.

Once I sign up for EasyPay, how soon will my payment be deducted?

Your payment will be automatically deducted each month on your regular due date. Please note that it can take several weeks to complete the authorization process, so be sure to continue making your regular payment until "Do Not Remit" appears on your monthly statement.

What happens if my account has insufficient funds for a scheduled EasyPay payment?

You will be notified by mail that your payment has not been processed. You will be responsible for resubmitting your payment and any additional resulting charges as permitted by law. EasyPay will automatically be cancelled if three payments are returned due to insufficient funds within any 12-month period.

Do I have to cancel EasyPay when my financing or lease contract is finished?

No, the EasyPay service will discontinue automatically when your balance is paid in full.

Can I pay my bill with a credit card?

No, you cannot make your monthly payments with a credit card.

Where should I mail my payment?

Send your payment to the address on the payment coupon on your statement. You can also look up your payment address.

Are there late payment fees?

If a payment is received after the due date, a late charge may be assessed to your account. Refer to your contract for specific information regarding late charges.

What if a check is returned for insufficient funds?

Acura Financial Services will automatically attempt to deposit the check twice. If the funds are not available the second time, a replacement payment must be submitted and dishonored payment charges may be assessed as permitted by law.

Why did I receive a separate bill for taxes? Isn't this part of my monthly lease payment?

To ensure you are billed accurately for your property taxes, we initially pay the tax bill on your behalf and then send you a bill in turn. For an estimate of these charges over the term of your lease, please refer to the "Estimated Fees and Taxes During Your Lease Term" section on the front of your lease agreement.

What happens if my payment deduction date falls on a non-business day?

It will occur on the next business day.

Account Changes

How do I change the due date on my account?

You may call or mail your request to Acura Client Services.

What if I move to another state?

If you move to another state, you must update your address information with Acura Financial Services®. You must also re-register your vehicle and forward a copy of the registration card to Acura Financial Services® within 30 days.

How do I re-register my vehicle?

Contact the Department of Motor Vehicles in your state for the necessary documentation needed for re-registration.

How do I change the address or telephone number on my account?

You can do this online by to your account. You can also mail a written request to Acura Financial Services® or complete the Change Address form on the back of your statement.

How do I change my name on my account?

Mail a copy of a marriage license, divorce decree or court name change document to Acura Client Services.

What happens if my vehicle is lost, stolen or destroyed?

If you have leased your vehicle, Guaranteed Asset Protection limits the amount owed if your vehicle is lost, stolen or destroyed (provided you have maintained the required insurance coverage). See the back of your Lease Agreement for additional details.

If I make changes to my Acura Financial Services® account online, when will the information be updated?

The information will be updated on your account within two to three business days. Once the request is processed, it will be reflected in your online account.

Is there a charge for using EasyPay?

No, this convenient service is offered free of charge to Acura Financial Services® clients.

Once I sign up for EasyPay, how soon will my payment be deducted?

Your payment will be automatically deducted each month on your regular due date. Please note that it can take several weeks to complete the authorization process, so be sure to continue making your regular payment until "Do Not Remit" appears on your monthly statement.

Please note that if you discontinue EasyPay you will still be required to remit your payment on the due date on your statement.

Is there a charge for using Pay Online?

No, this convenient service is offered free of charge to Acura Financial Services® clients.

When I make a change to my bank account, when will the information be updated?

Changes to your Pay Online bank account information will be updated immediately in the system.

When I make a payment, how soon will it be deducted from my bank account?

Can I cancel a Pay Online payment?

Once a Pay Online payment has been submitted it may not be cancelled.

Can I choose a different payment amount for Pay Online?

You may only pay a non-zero amount equal to or greater than $1.00 and less than or equal to your total payoff amount.

Repairs

After an accident, how do I get an insurance check endorsed to pay for vehicle repairs?

Mail the check to Acura Client Services. Don't forget to include your Acura Financial Services® account number for reference.

If the check is less than $1,000 ($500 for motorcycle), it will be endorsed without documentation as long as the account is current.

If the check is $1,000 to $5,000 ($500 to $1,499 for motorcycles), a copy of the insurance estimate and the completed repair order will be required. If the check is more than $5,000 (or $1,500 for motorcycles), a copy of the insurance estimate, a completed repair order and a dealer inspection will be required.

Payoffs

How can I get a payoff quote?

Payoff quotes are available online by to your account. You can also call the 800 number printed on your statement.

Why doesn't the estimated payoff on my statement decrease by the amount I pay each month?

The payment consists of principal/depreciation and finance/service charges, which are the costs of financing or leasing. Only the principal/depreciation portion decreases the estimated payoff amount.

After I have paid my account in full, when will I receive my title?

If there is no outstanding balance on your account, the title will be mailed upon verification of final payment clearance. It is important to verify Acura Financial Services has your current address on file to ensure you receive your title.

Lease Payoffs

How can I get a payoff quote for my auto lease?

Payoff quotes are available online by to your account or by calling our Express Payoff System at 1-866-777-6495.

Note: The Express Payoff System cannot provide quotes on lease accounts in which the vehicle is garaged in AL, AK, AZ or IL, or if certain conditions require that you speak with an Acura Client Services Representative. You may contact a representative Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST.
When will I receive my security deposit?

The security deposit is generally released upon receipt of payoff if there is no outstanding auto lease balance or pending property taxes due on your account.

Why doesn't the estimated payoff on my auto lease statement decrease by the amount I pay each month?

The financing payment consists of depreciation and service charges, which is the cost of having a lease.

If I decide to purchase my leased vehicle for the payoff amount, when will I receive my title?

If there is no outstanding balance on your account, the title will be mailed upon verification of final payment clearance. It is important to verify Acura Financial Services has your current address on file to ensure you receive your title.

Can someone else purchase my leased vehicle?

We are unable to conduct third-party sales. Your leased vehicle may only be purchased by the original lessee(s) or by a dealer.

Inspection, Wear and Use

When should I have my vehicle inspected?

The inspection should be completed in the last two scheduled months of your lease. That way, you'll have time to take care of any repairs yourself. Or, if you choose to have us make the repairs, you'll understand exactly what you're being billed for.

Can I schedule my lease inspection online?

Yes, you can schedule your lease inspection online by visiting SGS. Please have your Acura Financial Services account number and VIN number available.

Why can't I just have my dealer perform the inspection on my vehicle?

Only authorized agents can provide an End-of-Lease inspection. The Lease Maturity Center will be happy to provide you with contact information for your local vehicle inspection provider. Or you can schedule your lease inspection online by visiting SGS.

How long does the inspection take?

In general, about an hour...less if your vehicle is free of excessive damage.

Do I have to be present during the inspection?

While it's tempting to hand over your keys and let the inspection proceed without you, we encourage you to be there. Your presence at the inspection will allow you to have a greater understanding of the results, and of any charges your vehicle may be assessed. Since you'll be asked to sign the report, you'll want to be present as the inspector looks at the vehicle. Additionally, you'll receive a copy of the report for your records. If you simply can't be present for the inspection, enlist the help of someone who knows your vehicle well to be there for you.

Do I have to take care of the repairs before I turn in my vehicle?

It's up to you. Your Acura dealer, or another repair facility, can handle the repairs. Please keep in mind that use of Genuine Acura Parts is a requirement of your lease agreement. You may also return the vehicle without making repairs. However, you will receive a bill for the cost of excess wear and use.

What if something happens to my vehicle between the time it's inspected and I turn the vehicle in?

Your vehicle is subject to a final inspection after you turn it in, so if a problem arises after your preliminary inspection, you may still be liable for it. Sometimes damage or malfunctions can't be detected during the inspection, or an unexpected condition arises after your vehicle is inspected. If you receive a bill for charges with which you're not familiar, contact a Lease-End/End-of-Term Consultant at 1-800-708-6555.".

Can I pay my final (end-of-term) bill with a credit card?

Yes, unlike a regular monthly payment, you may pay your end-of-term bill with a credit card. Contact the Lease Maturity Center for more information.

License Plates

Do I have to do anything with my plates when turning in my leased vehicle to the Honda/Acura dealership?

Yes, if you live in the states of VA, NC, CT, RI, KY and MA. For these states, the customer needs to provide proof of cancellation or transfer from the state. This is required to stop the assessment of property taxes on the leased vehicle.

What do I do if I want to keep my plates?

You will need to contact the Lease Maturity Center at 1-866-777-6495 for a letter advising that you may keep the license plates.

End of Finance

No. However, when you return the vehicle you will need to provide receipts or repair orders that indicate what repairs have been completed.

If I lease or purchase a new Acura and trade in my current vehicle, am I still liable for any end-of-term charges?

You may be. If the dealer purchases the vehicle as a trade-in and makes a full payoff, your obligation for excess wear and use and excess mileage is waived. However, you may still be responsible for outstanding items such as payments owed, personal property taxes, late charges, fines, etc.

Can I pay my final, end-of-term bill with a credit card?

Yes. Please call an Acura Client Services Representative for instructions.

Mobility Assistance

Acura Mobility Assistance Program

How can I learn about the Acura Mobility Assistance Program?

The Acura Mobility Program is proud to support the mobility needs of drivers and passengers with physical disabilities. When you purchase or lease an Acura vehicle, you will be provided with a cash reimbursement of up to $1,000 of the cost of aftermarket adaptive equipment that is installed on any eligible vehicle.
